Lisa

Rummy’s Beach Club does NOT offer rehabilitation or therapy. Lisa Goebel, the owner, is NOT a veterinarian, veterinarian technician or physical therapist. She has been a PA - physician assistant – since 1988 and has had the privilege of working with cancer and bone marrow transplant patients at cutting edge institutions like MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington and The University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. She is passionate about death and dying, a subject most people avoid.

Lisa has volunteered with Team in Training, a group who educates and trains you to participate in a triathlon, marathon or 100 mile bike ride while you raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Some of the incredibly brave people she trained with had leukemia or lymphoma and were on chemotherapy while training! She trained for a triathlon, but 2 weeks before the event broke her arm and dislocated her wrist while training. The following year she trained for and completed a 100 mile bike ride.

Lisa

Always an animal lover, Lisa became a vegetarian in 2004. In addition to donating money to numerous animal organizations for decades, she has donated time and money to several local dog and animal organizations, including - Husky Haven, Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue, Corridor for Cruelty Rescue, Spay and Neuter Assistance Program, Texas Humane Legislation Network, Dakota Rescue, The Woodlands White Tent Dog Adoptions and more.

Lisa does not have human children; her dogs are her babies – all of which are rescue dogs and are the light of her life. They make her laugh and appreciate every single day. So, she wanted to create a place for other dog fanatics, where the focus is on the dogs. At Rummy's Beach Cub, it is all about the dogs!

Lisa’s Dogs

Mischka is a white, 14 year old adopted Siberian Husky with arthritis and hip dysplasia and on a number of medications for years to help. After a few weeks of warm water exercise and building up muscle, he can decrease and gradually get off of his medicines. After each swim session, he gets giddy and runs around as if he was young again with a big grin on his face!

Victor is a black and white 7 year old Alaskan Malamute who had surgery for a luxating patella on the right back leg in 2006 and is developing the same problem in his left leg. As a puppy, Victor was shot in the butt at close range with a shot gun and has hundreds of pieces of buckshot all over his backside. Hopefully swimming will prevent Victor from needing anymore surgery.

Reba is a petite and dainty, black and white, 7 year old Siberian Husky. Reba is a singer and a big lover. She is a physical abuse case, blind in one eye, has several bends in her tail and doesn’t like to be touched in certain places. Reba was a foster dog. See…..no one wanted Reba. Thank goodness, because I can’t imagine life without her.

Rummy is a 7 year old red and white, blind Siberian Husky. He is a neglect abuse case. You know all about him….

Mr. Stubbie is a 3 year old brown and black Bassett mix and my Dock Dog! Stubbie is from a bad part of Houston – the Corridor of Cruelty – and has a big confidence issue, but that is improving by participating in Dock Dogs. He is a strong swimmer and a great jumper.
