Introductory Course with Cathy Chen-Rennie, $800

This intense introductory course will give you 20+ hours of training with 15–20 dogs. Everything is included in the cost of the class - meals, snacks, drinks, room and pool use. Rummy’s is 30 minutes from George Bush Intercontinental Airport and we will TRY to provide transportation for those flying into this airport. You may have to wait a bit when you arrive as well as when you depart, but….it is free. We will try to accommodate everyone with free transportation, but it may not work out and you may need to make arrangements on your own.

The class, your room, meals and the pool are at Rummy’s Beach Club in Spring, Texas, 30 miles north of Houston, Texas the fourth largest city in America; 10 miles south of The Woodlands, Texas one of the fastest growing communities in Texas as well as America; 10 miles west of I-45 and 10 miles east of Tomball, Texas. You will be staying in a 2 story, 3000 sf., 6 bedroom, 3.5 bath home on an acre of land which is completely enclosed behind a large private fence.

Because this is the first time Rummy’s has offered this class, it is being offered as a package deal with everything included and priced VERY affordably. The weekend is full of class time and swim time with dogs, but there is very little free time so that your time away from work is minimal, yet you receive an in depth introduction to warm water dog swimming. Future classes will be priced higher and may not be package deals with everything included, so SIGN UP NOW AT THIS SPECIAL PRICE!

Optional Extra Day to Practice Swimming Dogs with Lisa, $150

If you want to stay 1 additional day, Monday, March 22, to practice swimming dogs with Lisa Goebel, owner of Rummy’s Beach Club, the cost is an additional $150. That includes your room, meals, snacks, drinks and transportation to the airport. You will spend all day in the pool swimming a variety of dogs. We will begin swimming dogs at 8 or 9 AM and continue through 4 or 5 PM or until your departure flights begin. There will be no speakers or class time, just time in the pool swimming dog after dog.

Lisa Goebel, owner of Rummy’s Beach Club, was trained to swim dogs differently than Cathy, so Lisa will be a student in this class. Lisa took private lessons to learn how to swim dogs from Coni Fisher, a graduate of the accredited canine hydrotherapy program, Hawksmoor Hydrotherapy Training Centre in the UK. After graduating from Hawksmoor, Coni opened a canine hydrotherapy pool in England, swam 100 dogs a week for 6 years and now swims dogs in Black Forest, Colorado, where her son, Mike opened Paws ‘n’ Tails Hydrotherapy Pool in 2009.

The big differences in the way Lisa was trained compared to how Cathy was trained is that Lisa was trained in a large pool, dogs wear life jackets, there is less ‘hands on’ with the dogs, more swimming with the dogs and more owner participation. Lisa will be taking Cathy’s class in March to learn other differences and incorporate new methods into her private warm water dog swimming sessions.
