Jayda, a Saluki, won Best of Breed at Westminster in February 2012. On the day she won, her mom was so excited she called me from New York and told me, “The judge said he has not seen a Saluki in that good of physical condition in a LONG TIME!”

”Rummy's is far and away one of the coolest places we have ever visited. I'm still beaming from how much fun we had and Eko is very contently passed out in his bed. Thanks for running such an amazing business,” says Will Kearney, a Pet Travel Blogger for Petcentric.com by Purina. Will is a free-lance writer who travels the nation with his dog Eko, a 1 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback, to find FUN places for people to go when traveling with their pets. Check out his blog Marking Our Territory. Will’s full write up on Rummy’s is here:

Guinness - the #1 AKC Agility Giant Schnauzer for 2011!!! WooHoo!! ”We are really impressed at how quickly Guinness's endurance improved, the swimming is also helping with his arthritis. The toe injury from agility (he caught it on a metal tunnel tie-down) appears to be healed - the action of flexing his feet while swimming was a great way for him to use it without the weight of his body on it. :)"

“Zoe and I drove down to Rummy's Beach Club (from Dallas) for some Warm Water Hydrotherapy for her leg with the CCL Rupture. Lisa KNOWS HER BUSINESS!! I was equally impressed with Lisa's knowledge of how to help Zoe and her facility for providing hydrotherapy! We are going back in couple of weeks for our second session.”

“After spending the hour at Rummy’s the drive home was what we wish all our car rides with 3 dogs could be! All of them were calm and very tired. We are both on a high about Shooter. We have tried many activities in the past with our dogs but we always left Shooter at home because of his “fear”. Now we can actually do something with him that he can enjoy.

Thank you Lisa. My husband said on the way home he would have never taken Shooter into water if he didn’t want to go because he didn’t want to force anything “unpleasant” on him. You suggested to Dave that he should put Shooter in the water to find out. Well we found out! We may have another “Aqua Dog” in the making. ”

“Good morning Lisa. I just had to share this with you. This morning when Miracle got up she actually went to stretch! You know how dogs do!? Of course they weren't big long stretches but she actually stretched! I don't remember the last time I saw her do that! I know Rummy’s is helping her! Thank you so much for Rummy’s Beach Club. I am so happy Miracle and I found you and Rummy!!”

“The girls really love going to Rummy's – it is their favorite time of the week. Seriously, when I get the leashes to go on a regular walk in the evening, half the time Snow runs out the dog door to the car and jumps around waiting to get in the car to go to Rummy's. I have to tell her no Snow dog, not today but soon. “

“Lisa, Thank you for always taking such care and time with Justice and us whenever we come to swim. We feel like you love Justice as much as we do. Clearly Justice knows too. Thanks again!!!“

    Romeo Testimonial

“I adopted Romeo as a senior citizen, have had him for 6 years and his health has been good. Since I adopted him, he has been on omega 3 supplements, Iceland Pure Salmon Oil and glucosamine/chondroitin/msm supplement. When he was diagnosed with osteoarthritis on his front right leg, I added hyaluronic acid and arthroplex. He did fine for a year and a half, then started slowing down. We tried Rimadyl, but he was spacing out, staring at walls and became disoriented, so we switched to Adequan injections and all was well again.

One night, he couldn’t stand - his rear legs would give out. He was diagnosed with torn cruciate ligaments on both knees. Surgery was not recommended because he is highly allergic to anesthesia and Romeo is 16 years old. We did laser therapy instead which is non-invasive. The laser penetrates deep muscle tissue and regenerates it at the cellular level. Within two treatments Romeo could walk – wobbly - but he could go outside to do his business so I didn’t have to carry him anymore. He had a total of 16 laser sessions, 2 x a week for 8 weeks. During this time we added tramadol and gabapentin to help with pain. My poor baby, never complained. He went from walking 4 miles a day to half a block per day.

After the laser treatment was done, we were going to do physical therapy, but I told the doctor that Romeo loves water and I found Rummy’s Beach Club, where you can take your dog swimming. The light bulb went off and he said, “Let’s do that instead of physical therapy.” I contacted Lisa Goebel, the owner of Rummy’s and explained the situation. She said it was great and explained the benefits of warm water swimming. I started swimming Romeo for one hour, twice a week. He loved it! I could tell on his face and demeanor that he was in heaven. The first day we got home and he passed out the whole afternoon. By the end of the second week I could tell the difference in the way he walked. He was stretching the back legs more, they were not shaking, he was not stumbling and almost no limping. The swimming was also helping with his front legs. On the third week, we started going three times a week, one hour each time. This time Lisa turned the jets on which created turbulence and resistance. Romeo really had to swim hard now, but he did it! We started with 15 mins out of the hour with the jets on and gradually worked our way to the full hour. I took Romeo back to the vet for a follow up on the 4th week and he could not believe it was the same dog – the dog that had no use of his back legs a couple of months before. Romeo was walking with no limp! He took him off of all the pain medication, except for Tramadol when needed and the Adequan shots went from once a week to once a month. He said to still keep him on his natural meds - oil, glucosamine, and zyflamend. I am glad to say that Romeo now swims a full hour with jets turned on 3 times a week an hour each time, and instead of coming home and going to sleep, he wants to play fetch again. He has been doing the Romeo dash 100 - he runs from the car to the front door. He had not done this in such a long time, that I cried when I saw him do it again. He walks with no limp, and he has muscles now! But the best thing of all - no drugs!

Sure, it was not an instant solution but it has been worth it. Romeo has gained a new lease in life. We don't walk 4 miles a day anymore, now it is 2 miles and at a slower pace, but that is alright. What matters to me is that he is healthy, strong and happy. It is written all over his raccoon face. I take Romeo to Veterans Memorial Animal Hospital. He sees Dr. Lisa Knapp and Dr. Dan Ahrens - both are great and practice western medicine, homeopathy, Chinese medicine and acupuncture. They really listen to you - the caregiver - and work with you in providing the best care for your pet. The place where I take Romeo swimming is www.rummysbeachclub.com and the owner is a great lady. You should visit her site and read Rummy's story. I have attached pictures of Romeo swimming. Isn't my senior citizen the most handsome you have ever seen?”

    Katie Testimonial

“I don't know if you remember, but I came with my friend Gary and two golden retrievers Katie and Beau to swim in your amazing pool in July. You and I swam around trying to get Beau to jump into the pool while Katie, who takes to water like a fish, swam circles around us. Well Katie unexpectedly died this past weekend and I just wanted to tell you that it means the world to me that I got to swim with her this summer. I've thrown balls for Katie from the shoreline her whole life because local ponds and dog parks were too slimey and the northern lakes we'd vacation to were lovely but too cold. Your pool was just perfect and swimming with her will forever be one of my favorite Katie memories. Many thanks…”
